38 weeks, 3 days

With less than two weeks to go (only 3 days from the first due date they gave me), there is nothing new. Lily is still def moving around lots in there and as JF puts it, "she is trying to find the exit" haha. On Tuesday, March 4 is my next ultrasound to see how big they think she is. I plan on discussing with my doctor this Thursday about their opinions on going forward once I hit my due date. I typically hear you don't go over a week past the due date, but I'm sure most people are on a case by case basis and I honestly like my odds with inducing more-so than waiting too much past my due date.

I had another hilarious encounter with a couple at the doctor's office. Some of you may remember me posting to FB last week that a girl pregnant with twins was very nervous about having the twins several weeks apart... lol. This week while waiting in the back waiting room, I was sitting next to another couple who just had an ultrasound discovering they were having a girl. From the moment they sat down, I was annoyed lol. The girl, who I would say is around 25 had an extremely loud voice. I can appreciate a loud voice as much as anyone (I myself can be quite loud), but when it comes to settings like the doctor's office...there are certain tone levels you should follow. Apparently my pregnancy glow has faded and I look as miserable as I feel lol. I think seeing how big and close I am, her excitement faded a bit and she started asking a lot of questions. How far along I was, what was I having, how big is she, did I get sick, do I have swelling...blah blah. Sadly, I was trying to be as honest and as terrifying as possible haha. She also kept scolding her husband for looking at the ultrasound picture at her "girly parts" saying he was being a pervert and their little girl needed her privacy...yikes! haha. At least while I am at the doctor 75 times a week, I am fully entertained!

JF also built a cute garden in the back yard a few weeks ago. We got a small lime and orange tree that are both meant to stay in a pot, rather grow into a large tree. He planted tomatoes, romaine lettuce, brussels sprouts, cucumbers, red peppers, and habanero peppers! As long as I stay far away from them, they should grow :) A special congrats to Branden & Jason, Kelly & Dustin, and Danielle & Chris on their babies!! Your babies are all so precious and I can't wait to hold our little one! I hope everyone has a great week!

35 Weeks, 4 days!

So anyone who has talked to me in the recent week or so, I have been constantly saying, "I am so ready for Lily to come out!". Last night after a quick trip to the ER, I realized how much I am not prepared for her to come at all! I will get back to that in a bit (and yes everything is still fine!).

I had my last check up and ultrasound on Monday. The tech estimated her to be 5 lbs 13 ounces, still in the 48 percentile and I am so happy to say our child is "completely average" haha. They are predicting her to be around the average size which is 7 lbs, but like I said...it is a complete estimate by just measuring her body length. She is still in head down position, so I'm happy to say she is a planner and ready to go! :) The tech gave her the nickname "Wiggly Lily" because every time she does my ultrasound, Lily continuously knees or kicks the wand. She pretty much hangs out constantly on my right side, which as you can imagine is super uncomfortable. Because she still moves around so much, I get lots of strange looks when out in public at my moving, lopsided stomach. As you can see from the picture below, I am gigantic. Again, every time I am out people stare at me like I am going to give birth any second. Complete strangers smile at me uncomfortably and ask "how are you, sweetheart?" constantly. Today at the hair salon a man sitting next to me said, "Try not to have that baby in here, darling...but if you do, my daughter is on the way and she is a doctor!" haha.
Gracie is becoming crazy interested in all of Lily's furniture, swing, etc. that we have now strategically set around the house. JF sometimes pretends he is holding something in his arms and she goes crazy trying to sniff it haha. Below is a picture of JF trying to calm Lily down while playing the drums on my right hip bone. Gracie quickly joined in on the fun, sniffing like crazy!
So onto last night's escapades... Shortly after laying down for bed, I had to use the bathroom which I did. I walked to the sink, washed my hands and started to walk into the bedroom. After taking two steps from the sink, I said "Oh my gosh!" and ran back to the bathroom. I told JF that a small "gush" of liquid just came out, but it seemed way too little to be my water breaking. I told him that it had no smell, it appeared to be clear and felt like nothing I have felt during the pregnancy. After googling for a bit, we decided I should call the doctor's after hours line. After speaking to the doctor on call (who was clearly sleeping haha), he told me he wanted me to go to the ER and get checked out.
It was a good run through of what will eventually happen though because JF and I had never been to the Jupiter ER before. The guy at the ER walked us up to the Birthing Unit, where some very nice nurses met me. They had me change into a gown and hooked me up to check Lily's heartbeat and my contractions. She did a test which swabs and checks to see if any amniotic fluid is present. I said to her, "If I have a little leakage, my doctor would typically just tell me to relax to stop the leaking?". She smiled and said, "well it is up to your doctor, but no. Typically when you are this far along, they would induce you because the possibility of an infection is much greater than her being born a few weeks early". This response of course made me panic, big time. All this time I thought I was so ready, but the thought of her coming before I hit the 37th week really made me nervous (even though lots of babies are born earlier and are just fine). It could also be just the thought of giving birth in general haha. So after being there for about an hour and a half, the nurse came in and said, "Good news, Lily can stay in for a little longer the fluid is negative!". I of course was a bit embarrassed by this and said, "well that is embarrassing, that basically means I peed my pants...". She laughed and said, "Honey, if this is the first time in 35 weeks you have peed your pants a little, you are way further than most women!".
So long story short, I peed my pants, called my sleeping doctor, and went to the ER! haha.

So everyone is still doing great and one of our projects is almost finished! Anyone who has been to our house, knows we have a very long, odd hallway. We decided to add a doorway from our front room to the end of the hallway to make the layout flow a bit better. It might help some warm spots we have in the back rooms and will allow Mum to be closer to her bathroom. Paul, the handyman started this morning and almost finished. He just needs to return tomorrow to finish the threshold and the doorknob. We love it and think it looks great! I hope everyone is still having a great new year. Since I am home from work now, I might post more often...or lay around on the couch doing nothing... ;)
