Lily is 4 Months!

...and isn't sure what she thinks about the Ninja Ultima Blender we got to make smoothies and her baby food! Today she was awake for the first time when we used it. Nana was here to watch her while I went out to breakfast to Dana. So the scene...Mom is in the family room with Lily, JF and I in the kitchen. JF starts the blender and Lily threw her hands in the air and started looking frantically left and right. So Mom brought her in the kitchen and we got the same response when starting it again, but this time she smiled. Once she figures out this is the machine that will make her food, she will like it a lot more!

So she had her 4 month check-up today. My main concern going in was how red her skin still is. It was kind of patchy before, but now most of her belly and inside of arms are pink and sometimes red. The pediatrician put my mind at ease about it being anything serious. She told me that unfortunately, some babies have really dry skin and Lily is one of them. She told me to moisturize her like crazy multiple times a day. She also said I could use a little bit of cortisone cream if it really seems to be irritating her. Poor kid...has her mama's sensitive, dry skin! Her head circumference is right at average, her weight and height are in the 25 percentile. She didn't grow as long as she did from birth to 2 months this time around. She was 23 1/2 inches long and weighs 12 pounds, 3 ounces. Basically the doctor told me her head is slightly large for her body...something Mom, Jim and Jamie know as "Lucy head" haha (big headed Lucy from Charlie Brown). The doc said she is very talkative and moves around a lot. She follows movement and sound and has finally mastered grabbing something with both hands (said object usually ends up in her mouth). She was smiley and talking to the nurse until she got the alcohol wipe out. When the nurse started to wipe her leg, Lily started to whine. She cried a bit with each of the three shots, but settled down fast and slept the ride home. The doc also OKed for her to start rice cereal and move on to fruits and veggies in the next month or two. I am sure my next blog post will consist of pics of Lily all messy in her highchair! haha

Lily got to meet her cousin, Ridge last week! Although they spent most of dinner in their chairs sleeping, they stared at each other once they woke up and noticed there was another good looking baby at the table! :) Lucky for Lily she also had her first trip to IKEA in Orlando while waiting on dinnertime with Ridge and Branden, she was very impressed! We forgot to remove Ridge's blanket when we took the pictures (hey you have to work fast when you have two happy babies!), but either way they are both adorable! One of the waitresses asked if they were twins haha.

As most of you on Facebook have seen, Lily loves the TV and iPad. She plays Clash of Clans often with Daddy, thanks Jeremy (that was sarcastic!) haha. JF downloaded a few "infant" games on my iPad. It's pretty cool how interested in them she is. She touches the screen and follows the shapes as they move.

We went to Jacksonville again a few weeks ago for Tyler's birthday. Lily got to meet some of Mimi and Peepaw's friends and have some pool time. She is really beginning to enjoy and splash in the water. We are excited to have Dad, Stacey and the boys down this weekend. It will be fun to have them and all of our Jupiter family over for the Fourth! I rented a 15 x 40 foot slip n slide for the back yard, those pics will be awesome! haha.

We spent a lot of time this month watching sports too. Lily cheered along with us when cheering on the Habs and the Heat. Sadly both teams lost ultimately, but it was fun watching them as a family! Lily heard Mommy scream a few times, but I need to get her ready what is in store for her when she watches college football with me ;)

So what are JF and I up to? Eh.. he is pretty busy with work and I find a new healthy recipe to try about twice a week haha. This week I made homemade fruit leather and fruit snacks. We just started making fruit and veggie smoothies also. We usually spend our evenings talking and playing with Lily haha. I was thinking we need to start painting the ceilings white in the house soon. All the walls and ceilings were an off-white color when we bought it. We have painted a few walls here and there, but never really painted a room besides the small bathroom because the ceilings are cream. We will see if he REALLY reads my blog and notices what I have in store for him ;)

Have a great week and Fourth of July!!

Lily is 3 months!

...well over 3 months ;) It is so insane how quickly time passes by! It is more crazy how Lily changes every day. We went to Jax this past weekend for Ty's birthday and my Mom couldn't believe how she had changed just in the few days it had been since she saw her. She has definitely mastered rolling over from her tummy to her back. With a little cheer from us after she whines a bit, she rolls over rather well to her tummy from her back. Not very close to mastering it though. She holds herself up pretty well, it might be because of her girly figure haha. Not sure where she gets it from, but she is a rather long, skinny thing. I took her to the pediatrician last week as a precaution. She has been stuffy on and off, but it was always clear and I know people have been having allergy issues. She also has had pretty dry, blotchy skin. It didn't seem to be getting better, so I took her in. She was 23 inches long and 11.6 lbs. The doctor said the dry skin wasn't getting better because the poor kid has my skin. She suggested I use non-fragrant, non-soap wash and lotion. So we handed out all of our delicious smelling Johnson & Johnson to our great friends, The Schwarz's and bought some Eucerin. After just a few days of switching, it has already gotten much better! Yay! Here is her birth-3 month photo :)

She is still loving the pool and water. It is usually always warm enough now for her to swim, which is great. She even got some swimming in at Mimi & Peepaw's this weekend. She swam a lot on Memorial Day here at our pool. Nana & Pop came over to swim with her and she had a blast. Mom even got a pick of her in her anchor diaper for Aunt Jamie Lee and Great Grandpa Harting. The bath picture is her after the swim. She was so wore out, she passed out in the bath! Haha. Speaking of them, Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa will be here soon to see Lily for the first time! So exciting!

Lily has been grabbing very well at things too. She was just pissing herself off by taking her pacifier out of her mouth, but now she is beginning to get it back in (thank goodness!). Aunt Jamie tickles her with her hair a lot and we all knew it was just a matter of time before she can get a hold of that, well today it happened...but to Mommy haha. She had two fistfuls of my hair and we needed Daddy's help to unclamp her haha. She also loves the TV, which isn't new but she focuses on it for much longer now and even laughs. She is mesmerized by the computer, iPad and apparently even my phone. Today JF was letting her play with it and she loved it! I noticed an airline ticket to Japan on my amex, so I need to keep an eye on her ;)

We put Lily in her own crib in her room this week also. She has been in the pack n play in our room. She has started grunting a lot in her sleep and sometimes waking herself up. Last week she was sleeping 5-6 hours and waking up. We have been lucky and she has usually slept 7+ hours most nights. Of course now that she is growing close to the time when she should be sleeping through the night, she is waking up! JF and I have been sleeping in the guest room right across from her room for the last two nights (c'mon, Im trying! haha). I also bought rice cereal and put a half teaspoon in her bottle last night. She slept for 7 hours so I am hoping it is working! She eats about every 2.5-3 hours during the day so it doesn't really surprise me she is getting hungry at night. We have also been trying to let her put herself to sleep. Of course this doesn't work well when we wait too long and she is very tired, but she is doing great. She put herself to sleep after laying in her crib for a few minutes three times today! Some times it was easier and quicker than others, but nonetheless she is doing it!
She loves playing in her tent outside that she got from Grand-Maman and Grand-Papa. It really helps her stay cool. She also has no hair haha. She is balding on the side and the top just keeps getting longer. She sports a mo-hawk most of the time unintentionally. She also got some sunglasses! She doesn't keep them on for long unless we are actually out in the sun. It is funny how she already can put the two together and leave them on.

We also posted a video to Publix for a photo contest. You can vote for Lily here https://www.facebook.com/publix/app_266519243513101?&app_data=eyJwYXRoIjoidm90ZVwvMTEzNiJ9 if ya want. You can vote once a day, every day until July something. I am not even sure if or what we win, but I just saw the link and with no work for the summer, there is only so much laundry, etc you can clean when she is sleeping haha. I hope everyone has a great week!
