After a week of so of cereal in her bottle, we started spoon feeding her cereal. Her first time was actually Fourth of July. Her Aunt Jamie held her while I tried to shovel some in. Naturally, more got on her and Jamie than in her mouth haha. As the last few weeks have passed, we have continued to give her cereal twice a day everyday. Mom even had the pleasure of feeding her some cereal and she did great for her too! She is definitely sleeping better at night and is not having as large of bottles throughout the day. The poor kid is having some major constipation though (I read his is normal with rice cereal). She even got some 25 grape juice/75 water mixture the other night to help her poop (although she was quite happy to drink the yummy concoction). So tonight we decided to start her on vegetables. I already purchased spinach, zucchini, peas and green beans to puree and freeze for her, so we started her on the peas. It was pretty funny. She seemed to like it much more than the cereal. She ate a whole serving rather quickly. Well, she ate a serving minus 2 bites. It seemed like she was getting full. She let me know she was really finished when she stuck her tongue out and blew, thus spraying peas in every direction. Point taken, Lily!
It has worked out pretty well to feed her at lunch time and then again with us at the dinner table. She is usually up at dinner and constantly grabbing at my fork or cup when sitting in my lap. She would sit on my lap or in her chair and just stare at us while we ate, like we were torturing her haha. She seems pretty happy to be part of the dinner eating!
She had a good time with Jess and Tyler these past two weeks. Although there were times when I'm sure they wished she would stop her deafening scream, they seemed to love every minute with her too! They were actually a huge help. Not only could they entertain her when I was trying to dishes, laundry or other stuff, they also helped grab things when I needed it quickly. I am really going to miss them when they leave on Saturday!
Did I mention we got a huge slip n slide for the Fourth? It was so much fun! I guess the kids liked it too! Haha. All the McAllisters/Aube clan came (minus Jake and Samantha), Mom Jim and Jamie, Dad Stacey and the boys and our neighbor Dave and two of his girls.
We went to a BBQ at the clubhouse the next day and several neighbors we didn't know said, "oh we drove by the house with the big slip n slide yesterday!" haha. It wasn't too expensive and was def worth it! We won't have any room to rent one in the future though because we just closed on our home equity loan for a pool! :) We hope to have a pool by the winter!
I also added a cute picture JF took over the weekend. I had a bachelorette party with some friends from the neighborhood while the men hung out with all the babies. Her are half of the kids hanging out with "Dad" haha. Hope everyone had a great week and has a great weekend!
